President Donald Trump called Team USA on Thursday ahead of their 4 Nations Face-Off championship game against Team Canada later this evening.

Team USA and Canada will face off for the second time during the 4 Nations Face-Off event after the U.S. team knocked off the host Canadians 3-1 on Feb. 15 in Montreal. Thursday night’s championship game tips off at 8 pm ET (ESPN) from the TD Garden in Boston.

Earlier Thursday morning, Trump revealed his plans to send encouragement to Team USA while also confirming he won’t be in attendance for the championship game.

Of course, Trump also continued to criticize Canada and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau by repeating his desire to make Canada the United States’ “Fifty First State” and describing Trudeau as “Governor.”

“I’ll be calling our GREAT American Hockey Team this morning to spur them on towards victory tonight against Canada, which with FAR LOWER TAXES AND MUCH STRONGER SECURITY, will someday, maybe soon, become our cherished, and very important, Fifty First State,” Trump tweeted. “I will be speaking before the Governors tonight in D.C., and will sadly, therefore, be unable to attend. But we will all be watching, and if Governor Trudeau would like to join us, he would be most welcome. Good luck to everybody, and have a GREAT game tonight. So exciting! PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP”

Team USA previously beat Finland, 6-1, on Feb. 13, while Canada knocked off Sweden, 4-3, in overtime on Feb. 12, and then knocked off Finland, 5-3, on Monday to advance to the championship game.

President Donald Trump takes lap in The Beast ahead of Daytona 500

President Donald Trump, in Daytona Beach for the 67th running of the Daytona 500, took a lap around Daytona International Speedway in “The Beast” presidential limo as part of the prerace festivities.

Trump arrived from Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach just before 1 pm ET last Sunday but cut his trip short after heavy thunderstorms delayed the Daytona 500 for several hours.

Before Trump landed at Daytona Beach International Airport, Air Force One did a flyby over the racetrack as captured on the FOX broadcast. Trump was then shown on the broadcast during the signing of the national anthem roughly 30 minutes before green flag.

This was not the first time Trump attended the Daytona 500 as president. He previously served as the Grand Marshal in 2020 during his first term. Trump also attended Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans two weeks ago.
