President Donald Trump is excited to host the Philadelphia Eagles at the White House following their victory in Super Bowl LIX earlier this year. However, the team they defeated in the Kansas City Chiefs could be making their own trip to Washington D.C. in the future, as well.

During Trump’s first term in office, the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LIV, but they weren’t able to visit the President due to COVID. Evidently, Trump wants to make things right and celebrate 2020’s iteration of the franchise, so he’s invited the Chiefs who were victorious the first time around for a visit.

“I look forward to having the Eagles. One other thing, we’re going to have the Kansas City Chiefs after that because they missed their turn because of COVID,” Trump told Clay Travis of OutKick.

The Chiefs certainly would’ve rather had a joint celebration after winning their third consecutive Super Bowl earlier this season, but the Eagles put a stop to that. At least they’ll finally have a chance to honor their first championship of the Patrick Mahomes era at the White House, as they never got their shot before COVID shut the world down for a long while.

As for the Eagles, there was some talk regarding whether or not they would choose to visit President Trump, and take him up on the offer to head to the White House. They eventually did agree, and they’re set to make the trip on April 28.

“April 28, I can confirm the Philadelphia Eagles will be here at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory,” White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said earlier this year. “I know there was a lot of fake news about an invitation that wasn’t sent or was sent. We want to correct the record.”

Before the Super Bowl, President Trump said he was rooting for the Chiefs to win. But after the game was over, Trump praised the Eagles on the Mark Levin Show, making sure to let Philadelphia know how impressed he was.

“The Eagles were really, it was like flawless football, amazing,” Trump said. “Even the first play, they called it back. It was a long pass, it was, you know, either a touchdown or going to be a touchdown. They called it back, completed long pass, and they went on to get touchdown after touchdown. They really played great.”

All told, the Eagles will be the second team to visit the White House during Trump’s second term. The reigning Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers visited the White House in February. Trump was in office when the Eagles won the Super Bowl in 2018, but the team did not visit the White House after the invitation was revoked due to a small group of players who planned to attend.
