Xavier Worthy has yet to play a down in the league, but he has already made the Pro Football Hall of Fame. It’s all thanks to his record-breaking sprint at the NFL Combine.

The Hall of Fame requested Worthy’s jersey — in this case, the black tank and shorts — along with his neon orange shoes. The former Texas Longhorn was known at the NFL Combine as WO 40. But now, everyone will remember Worthy as the fastest man ever to run at the combine.

The receiver ran a blistering 4.21- time in the 40-yard dash. He beat the previous record by .01. It is probably why Worthy ran even faster at Lucas Oil Stadium when he saw the time flash on the scorecard and started celebrating. He beat John Ross, who ran a 4.22 in 2017.

His performance certainly caught everyone’s attention, but will it put Xavier Worthy in the first round? Well, it certainly got him in the conversation. But we should say that the elite receivers room is very crowded this NFL Draft season. There probably will be more receivers selected than quarterbacks.

There is no argument about the big three of Marvin Harrison Jr, Rome Odunze, and Malik Nabers. However, there is an argument about how the trio should rank. All three should go in the top 10.

That brings us to the next layer of receivers. You can probably put Xavier Worthy in that grouping. However, it is crowded as well. You could see Brian Thomas go in the first round, making a nice LSU tandem with Nabers, his teammate. And Worthy’s fellow Longhorn Adonai Mitchell also could be a first-rounder. He has both the size and the speed, albeit a 4.34 is not as fast as a 4.21 But Mitchell might stay ahead of his teammate in the draft because Worthy is a rail-thin 165.

So who might take Worthy? There has been a ton of buzz connecting the Longhorn to the Chiefs, where he could be a target of a former Texas Tech Red Raider. Of course, we’re talking about Patrick Mahomes. The three-time Super Bowl winner messaged Worthy after the combine. So did the likes of Ray Lewis and DeSean Jackson.

The Chiefs select at No. 32 in the draft. Coach Andy Reid loves the fast guys. Look at what he did with Tyreek Hill. Worthy could be that guy. It is certainly an intriguing draft possibility.

“In a perfect world, I definitely would want to go to the Chiefs,“ Xavier Worthy told reporters after the combine. “Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you. They had Tyreek Hill. The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me.”
