This week in Tulsa paid off for Kyle Busch. The two-time Cup Series champion watched his son win his first-ever Golden Driller. Even for the son of a NASCAR superstar, Brexton Busch is turning heads at a young age.

You never know how drivers and athletes are going to develop. However, Brexton Busch has shown not only an interest in racing, but a genuine talent for it.

This year, Brexton turns 10 years old. He has a Golden Driller to his name already, and I’m sure that he’s going to be back for another one or two in 2026.

Even though Kyle Busch didn’t do as well as his son, all he could think about was being a dad. On Sunday night, Rowdy couldn’t help but relive the moment one more time.

“24 hours later, and I still couldn’t be more proud of [Brexton],” Busch shared on social media. “Biggest moment of his career and he drove a perfect race. All the hard work he and the guys put in all year paid off. Just a really proud dad right now.”

I’m not sure we have ever seen Busch as happy and proud as he was this weekend. No Truck Series win, Xfinity championship, or even a pair of Cup championships can compare to watching his son succeed on the track.

Now, Rowdy wasn’t a slouch in Tulsa. He has really started to get a hold of these micro sprints. Next week could be different when he takes on the Chili Bowl Nationals in the midget car.

Kyle Busch getting geared up for NASCAR season

Has there ever been a time when we see this much Rowdy in the offseason? With Brexton racing dirt, Kyle Busch fans have been getting more of their favorite driver in December and January.

On top of the Tulsa Shootout, Busch is taking on the Chili Bowl Nationals as well. He will be one of a few Cup drivers in the field. Ty Gibbs, Christopher Bell, and of course, Kyle Larson will all be there. Bell and Larson gave Shootout fans an all-time classic in the non-wing outlaw A-Main. The JGR driver came out on top in a photo finish.

Coming off a disappointing 2024, I think this is a great thing to see from Busch. He needs to know that there is a fun side to racing still. That joy he is finding on the dirt, he could find that joy on the NASCAR track as well. Richard Childress Racing has to do its part to help him, too.

Kyle Busch is going to be racing more this month. Before we know it, we’re going to be at Bowman Gray Stadium for the Cook Out Clash. This offseason doesn’t last long, and Daytona is right around the corner. Will we see Rowdy bounce back?
