Quinn Ewers becomes betting favorite to win Heisman Trophy after 1st half vs. Michigan
There’s officially a new betting favorite for the Heisman Trophy. After his impressive first half against Michigan, Quinn Ewers now has the best odds to bring home the award, according to FanDuel.
Ewers is now +750 to win the Heisman, moving past Dillon Gabriel and Jaxson Dart for the top spot. The Texas quarterback put on a show in the first half against Michigan, completing 18 of 26 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns as the Longhorns took a resounding 24-3 lead into the break.
Ewers entered the season as one of the top quarterbacks in the country with plenty of Heisman Trophy buzz after announcing his return. Last season, he threw for 3,479 yards and 22 touchdowns in 12 appearances, and he’s looking to take another leap forward in 2024.
In the process, Ewers is also trying to improve his NFL Draft stock. He entered the season as ESPN analyst Field Yates’ No. 19 overall player on his first big board, and Mel Kiper Jr. said the key to moving up the board will be consistency during his senior season.

“Well, [Michigan has] a great defense. High noon kickoff at the Big House, what’s better than that, Greeny,” Kiper said on Get Up. “And you’ve got three players, you’ve got Will Johnson, a lock-down corner, could be a Top 5 pick for Michigan. Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, that interior pressure that bothers quarterbacks like no other, those two kids — Grant and Mason Graham — will be Top 10 picks potentailly, right? And you’ve got Quinn Ewers — consistency.
“A couple of years ago he’s at 58-percent [passing], last year he goes up to 69-percent. But early in the year against Rice he misses a couple of throws, he looks great against Alabama in Tuscaloosa, leads them to an upset. Great touch pass, 350 yards, next week against Wyoming he’s at 52-percent. After that he’s at 65-percent or higher in every regular season game. He was ranked coming out of high school ahead of Caleb Williams, ahead of Drake Maye, ahead of J.J. McCarthy. This is Quinn Ewers’ year to reestablish himself as maybe QB1 by the time we get to late April.”
