Quinn Ewers impresses with self-scripted throwing routine at Texas Pro Day

Quinn Ewers put on a show in front of NFL scouts with a self-scripted throwing session during Texas‘ Pro Day on Tuesday afternoon from Austin. Whether it was enough to move Ewers into first-round consideration during next month’s 2025 NFL Draft is yet to be seen, but the former Longhorns quarterback certainly opened some eyes with his performance.
Ewers reportedly completed 50-of-59 throws with four drops during his throwing workout, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Howe, which was scripted and conducted by Ewers alone.
Take a look at one of Ewers’ longer throws on the day — what appears to be a 60-yarder into the end zone — here:
With the NFL Draft less than a month away, Ewers is doing his best to climb draft boards after a productive but not particularly encouraging final season at Texas. Ewers threw for 3,472 yards — just seven yards shy of tying last season’s mark — and a career-high 31 touchdowns in 2024, but also saw his completion percentage drop to 65.8-percent along with a career-worst 12 interceptions during an injury-plagued junior season.
Since the end of the season, Ewers has helped himself with a strong outing at the NFL Scouting Combine at the beginning of March. That has some projecting Ewers to be a late Day 2 or early Day 3 selection. ESPN draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. currently has Ewers as his ninth-ranked quarterback in this year’s draft class, with only his Top 3 QBs — Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders, Miami’s Cam Ward, and Ole Miss’ Jaxson Dart currently projected as first-round picks.

Quinn Ewers stacks more visits with NFL teams as Pro Day looms
According to a report from Athlon Sports’ John Hendrix, Ewers had dinner with the New Orleans Saints on Monday night after scheduled meetings with the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.
On Monday morning, a report emerged that Ewers was set to meet with the Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. In addition, Hendrix reported that Ewers will meet with the Miami Dolphins some time following Texas’ Pro Day on Tuesday.
“Just as newsworthy is what’s happening around Ewers’s pro day,” the NFL Network’s Albert Breer wrote. “The plan is for him to meet with the Jets and Las Vegas Raiders today and have dinner with the New Orleans Saints brass tonight, with all three teams expected to send big crews to Austin. He already has 30 visits set up with the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Raiders for early April.”
