Injuries have become a major concern for the Philadelphia Eagles going into the NFC Championship Game. That includes seeing key players on offense and defense, including Jalen Hurts and Quinyon Mitchell, get banged up leading up to this game.

Luckily, for the Eagles, going into the game ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter has some good news for Philadelphia on Get Up. As of now, it looks like Mitchell is going to be playing against the Washington Commanders.

“Also plans to play,” Schefter said. “And also will see how effective he is out there. Again, a cornerback with a shoulder not quite the same thing as a quarterback with a knee trying to run the tush push, but Quinyon Mitchell plans to play. Limited in practice yesterday and if you’re limited in practice in the middle of the week before the NFC Championship game, even if it is an estimation and a walkthrough, he is expected to be out there.”

Mitchell went down in the first quarter of the divisional round against the Los Angeles Rams. He injured his shoulder trying to make a play. He was largely replaced by Isaiah Rodgers, a backup defensive back who has plenty of experience in the NFL.

A rookie first-round pick out of Toledo, Mitchell has had a phenomenal first season in the NFL for the Eagles. It was a season that saw him make the PFWA NFL All-Rookie team. That’s a regular season that saw him defend 16 passes defended and 46 total tackles. In the playoffs, he added an interception against the Green Bay Packers.

The Eagles’ defense is going to need all hands on deck for the NFC Championship Game. The Commanders are led at quarterback by Jayden Daniels, another rookie who has established himself as one of the better quarterbacks in all of the NFL. Washington also has several excellent receiving threats, including Terry McLaurin and Zach Ertz.

The Eagles also got a positive update from Schefter on Jalen Hurts, who like Mitchell was limited in practice and is now also expected to play on Sunday.

The NFC Championship Game is scheduled to be played in Philadelphia at 3:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, January 26th. The winner will move on to the Super Bowl to take on the AFC Championship winner, either the Kansas City Chiefs or the Buffalo Bills.
