Randall Cobb, a former receiver for the Packers, Jets and Cowboys, thanked Nashville firefighters this week after the brave crew saved his family from their burning home.

Aiyda Cobb, Randall’s wife, explained the scary situation via social media. “We are lucky to be alive,” she said. Aiyda added that a Tesla charger caught fire in the garage. She noted that the flames then “quickly spread.”

“We got out of the house with nothing but the clothes on our back and no shoes on our feet.”

Randall Cobb said the family, which also included the couple’s three children, are all safe. Plus, Randall was able to go back into the house and save Louie, the family dog.

Cobb posted on his Instagram: “Thank you for all the love and positive messages. First and foremost, we are all safe and healthy. … We can’t thank Chief Caruthers, Captain Irvin and the Nashville Fire Department enough for their swift action. I can’t get the image of the brave firefighter getting into position out of my head; he didn’t even have water to shoot yet.

“I truly thought the cards were going to explode and that we would lose him in this tragedy. He is a true hero. Unfortunately we don’t know how much, if anything, will be salvageable, but this has been a reminder that nothing is more important than the health of our family.”

Randall Cobb is a free agent

Randall Cobb, 33, is living in Nashville as he awaits a call from another NFL team. He joined the NFL in 2011 as the Packers’ second-round pick from Kentucky. He played two stints with the Packers (2011-18 and 2021-22). He joined the Jets last season as Aaron Rodgers moved from Green Bay to NYC.

Cobb played in 11 games with the Jets, catching five passes. Of course, he had a well-developed relationship with Rodgers. But Rodgers rupture his left Achilles four offensive snaps into the season opener against the Bills.

Cobb’s career also took a swing through Texas. He played a season each for the Texans and Cowboys.

Last season, a sweet moment from the Cobb family made Max’s Hard Knocks. Cameras showed Randall and Aiyda Cobb telling their two young sons that they were going to be big brothers. Rather than behind-the-scenes play, Jets fans received a taste of sweet family life. Mom and Dad refer to the family as the “Cobb Mob.” Baby boy Chance was born earlier this year.

Because Rodgers signed with the Jets, Randall Cobb decided to extend his career by at least another season. A year ago, he said: “I did think about (retirement). And in the end I knew I wasn’t ready,” he told reporters. “I wasn’t ready to hang it up, I knew I wasn’t done playing. (And) I have so much love for this game and I know I can’t play until I’m 60. But as long as I feel like I can still do it, I’m gonna come out and do it.”
