Randy Gregory says Mark Davis' bowl cut sparked Las Vegas Raiders hate
To say Denver Broncos edge rusher Randy Gregory is motivated going into the Week 1 home matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders would be an understatement.
You see, Gregory hates the Raiders. But the origins of that hate stems from something you may have not thought about. Speaking with the media Friday, Gregory revealed that Raiders owner Mark Davis’ bowl cut rubs him the wrong way.
“I don’t like the owner’s haircut, I don’t like the bowl cut,” Gregory said. “Kinda pisses me off.”
Well, at least he’s honest.
But while Gregory won’t have a chance to take a shot at Davis on the football field this Sunday, he will get the opportunity to chase around a quarterback with a much better haircut. That, of course, would be Jimmy Garoppolo, who is set to make his Raiders debut after signing a three-year, $72.75 million deal with Las Vegas this offseason.
Randy Gregory hoping to make it through full 17-game season
Gregory, entering his second season in Denver, got off to a strong start in 2022 before an injury in Week 4 against the Raiders derailed his season. The 30-year-old was sidelined until Week 15, playing in just six games total.

After an offseason of rehab, Gregory hopes to be ready for a 17-game slate. That, however, is something he’s never done in his career.
“Just being able to make sure my legs are strong enough to withstand the year and at the same time have the right weight, right mass, right strength — things like that,” Gregory said last month, via the team’s website. “I think I’ve done a good job of that. I still have my explosiveness and everything like that, so heading into the year I feel pretty good.”
Sitting on just 18.5 sacks through six seasons in the NFL, Gregory knows it’s time for him to finally live up to the potential he flashed when he was with the Dallas Cowboys.
“It’s always been big for me,” Gregory said. “I think my thing is fulfilling my end of the agreement… A big part of that is being able to be available and be healthy. A lot of that’s been offseason just rehabbing, making sure that’s good on that end. I truly feel like if I’m out there for 17 games-plus, I’ll do what I need to do. And that’s the plan.”
