Randy Moss gives hot take on the 2021 Dallas Cowboys
The Dallas Cowboys 6-1 start has four-time All-Pro Randy Moss making big proclamations.
“I can honestly say, this is the best team that I’ve seen since the ‘90s from the Dallas Cowboys,” Moss said on ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown.
The Cowboys haven’t won the NFC East since 2018 and haven’t been to a Super Bowl since 1995. Back in the ’90s, the Boys, led by Jimmy Johnson then Barry Switzer, won the NFC East title six times.
The Cowboys have been unstoppable since starting the season with a two-point loss to the reigning Super Bowl champs Tampa Bay.
At 6-1, Dallas leads the NFC East. The Green Bay Packers lead in the NFC North at 7-1 after their Thursday night win over the Arizona Cardinals. The Tampa Bay Bucs are on top in the NFC South at 6-2 and the Cardinals are tied up with the L.A. Rams at 7-1 in the NFC West.
The Cowboys have several games coming up versus teams that are struggling to stay at or above .500 with the Broncos, Falcons and Chiefs. They’ll get a big test on Thanksgiving with a game versus the AFC West-leading Las Vegas Raiders.
Prescott: ‘We’re definitely a contender’
Dallas Cowboys quarterback and MVP candidate Dak Prescott showed some fire about the team’s future in a response to reporters last week. Prescott believes this could be the year they get back to the playoffs, and potentially more.
“We’re definitely a contender,” Prescott said. “I think everybody on this team and in this building would be pissed off if anybody thought any differently. I felt that way coming into camp, feel that way after six games, feel that way today.”
The Dallas Cowboys held Prescott out for Sunday night’s game versus the Minnesota Vikings. Instead, Cooper Rush got his first NFL start and led the team to a 20-16 win. The Cowboys will most likely have Prescott back on Sunday afternoon versus the Denver Broncos, according to reports.

NFL insider Ian Rapoport said after the game on Sunday night that Dak Prescott was “really, really close” to playing.
“The Cowboys weren’t going to put him in harm’s way at all,” Rapaport said. “With any pain, he was not going to play, but he was really close.”
The optimism coming from the Cowboys facility last week indicated that he was going to play versus the Vikings. However, on the practice field, backup Cooper Rush continued taking the bulk of the reps.
Prescott’s health has been a major concern for the Cowboys, especially since last year. The quarterback suffered a season-ending ankle injury as Dallas missed the playoffs. This year, they look like the clear favorite to win the NFC East and return to the postseason.
The sixth-year pro has thrown for 1,813 yards and 16 touchdowns, which was tied for third-most in the NFL at the end of Week 6.
Dak Prescott is currently in second in the NFL MVP odds race. Vegas has him at +400 behind Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray at +350.
