Randy Moss thanks, shouts out 'NFL Countdown' crew amid cancer battle
NFL legend Randy Moss was forced to step away from his role as an analyst at ESPN and Sunday NFL Countdown as he battles cancer. Still, through his battle, the Countdown crew has decided to continue to air Moss’ segment “You Got Mossed.”
Apparently, Moss was watching on Sunday morning and took to social media to share his support of the show and praised them for putting together the You Got Mossed segment.
“@espn sunday nfl countdown……I MISS U TOO!!My guys keeping it going,” Moss posted. “UGM segment was great!!”
Beyond just running his segment, Sunday NFL Countdown also showed plenty of love to the legendary wide receiver, sharing clips of players from the Minnesota Vikings, one of his former teams, celebrating him in a game last week. Rex Ryan also wore a sweatshirt to celebrate Moss.
Randy Moss is battling a rare form of bile duct cancer. At the time, ESPN released a statement that he would be stepping away to address his health.
“Randy Moss will step away from ‘Sunday NFL Countdown’ for an extended time to focus on a personal health challenge,” ESPN said in a statement. “He briefly addressed the matter at the start of the show on Dec. 1. For nearly a decade, Randy has been an invaluable member of the team, consistently elevating ‘Countdown’ with his insight and passion. He has ESPN‘s full support, and we look forward to welcoming him back when he is ready.”

During his last appearance on the show, Randy Moss shared some insight, without getting into specifics, on his health.
Well good morning, man. I just wanted to share something with you all, man. I put a post up maybe a few minutes ago on Instagram just telling people, just, you were talking about my eyes last week, and I just want to let the viewers know that me and my wife, me and my family, we are battling something internally,” Moss said.
“Have some great doctors around me. I couldn’t miss the show, I wanted to be here with you guys. I feel great. But if you all see me with these Michigan turnover glasses that I have on, it’s not being disrespectful. Because I’m on television, man. I’m battling something, I need all the prayer warriors. God bless you all and thanks for the prayers.”
Since the news of his cancer diagnosis, there has been an outpouring of support for Randy Moss, including from broadcasters, his former teammates, fans, and current players. It appears, there’s going to be now slowing down that support.
