Rashad Torrence II reveals what NFL teams will get in him
There’s nothing exact about the science of drafting players. You can scout, interview, and watch as much film as you want and still not be 100% certain of the kind of prospect you’re bringing in. With that said, former Florida safety Rashad Torrence II made it very easy on teams by telling them exactly who he is.
Torrence described himself as a draft prospect during media at the NFL Combine on Thursday. He said whoever selects him is going to get someone who knows the game inside and out defensively and backs that up with passion on the field.
“I’m a very smart player. A very open communicator, a very loud communicator. And a guy that can recognize plays before a play happens,” said Torrence. “A very deep film studier. Somebody that really takes the game serious and brings a different approach.”
Torrence finished his three-year career with the Gators with 196 tackles. He also produced three interceptions, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble during his time in Gainesville.
That all came after arriving at Florida as a four-star prospect in the class of 2020 per the On3 Industry Ranking. He came out as a Top-30 safety and a Top-400 player overall out of Marietta, Georgia.

Again, not even Torrence himself knows how he’s going to pan out now that he’s headed to the next level. Even so, this kind of talk exudes the kind of confidence teams will be looking for and, from there, it’s on him to perform and show them what he’s got during interviews and workouts at the combine this weekend.
LOOK: Torrence II wears special family necklace to NFL Combine
The NFL Combine can produce career-changing moments for players, testing in front of every team in Indianapolis. Between measurements and testing numbers, a lot of questions on how games translate to the next level are answered ahead of the draft. Personal stories have the opportunity to be shared as well.
Florida defensive back Rashad Torrence had one of the best of the day, explaining the necklace he was wearing over his hoodie. A picture of his late grandmother is attached, someone Torrence lost at a young age. He decided to honor her when speaking to the media on Thursday.
According to Torrence, the goal for his grandmother was to one day see him play on TV in the NFL. That goal is now in sight with the defensive back going through the NFL Combine. Come late April and Torrence will hear his name called in Kansas City.
