Rashee Rice under investigation for alleged Dallas nightclub assault
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice is under investigation for allegedly hitting a photographer in Dallas on Monday, according to WFAA. The incident reportedly happened at the nightclub Lit Kitchen, and officers are interviewing witness.
The investigation comes a month after Rice turned himself into police in connection to his involvement in a multi-vehicle crash in Dallas in late March. After Rice turned himself in, he was taken into DeSoto jail where the bond was set at $40,000.
“Mr. Rashee Rice turned himself in today and was released on bond,” Rice’s attorney, Sen. Royce West, said at the time. “I want to re-emphasize Mr. Rice’s continued cooperation with law enforcement. Mr. Rice acknowledges his actions and feels deeply for those injured as a result of this accident. Our legal team is now tasked with reviewing all legal documents.”
Shortly after the arrest, Chiefs coach Andy Reid was asked about Rice. “I’m leaving that, like we’ve done most of these, for the law enforcement part to take place and then we will go from there with that,” Reid told reporters in April.
A multi-game suspension is possible for Rashee Rice
The alleged assault could be costly for Rice because he’s likely going to be suspended for the car crash. Adam Schefter of ESPN talked about Rice’s status with the NFL and said a multi-game suspension is possible.

“Let’s start with, obviously, there are major legal ramifications that he’s going to have to go through here, and we’ll see what the court system plays out [and] how the process plays itself out. But from an NFL standpoint, there’s the very real possibility that at this point in time, Rashee Rice is going to be facing discipline from the NFL, a multi-game suspension.
“So the Chiefs have to know that they can’t count on having them and that there’s the real possibility you were right that they’re going to lose him for multiple games, at the very least,” said Schefter. “Before that incident, the Chiefs already had a need at the wide receiver position. Now, you look at the idea that Rashee Rice may not be there for the start of the season, possibly longer, and you really need to upgrade that spot in addition to the offensive line.”
With Rice’s status for the 2024 season unclear, the Chiefs used their first-round pick in the draft to take former Texas Longhorns wide receiver Xavier Worthy. In 2023, Worthy caught 75 passes for 1,014 yards and five touchdowns.
