Ravens activate RB J.K. Dobbins off Physically Unable to Perform list
The Baltimore Ravens just got one of their running backs healthy. On Monday, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter reported that J.K. Dobbins has been activated off the PUP list and is able to start practicing.
Here was that news, which Schefter tweeted:
“Sources: Ravens’ RB J.K. Dobbins, who has not yet practiced during training camp, is being activated today off the Physically Unable to Perform list.”
Dobbins is still dealing with issues stemming from his ACL tear, which he suffered just before the 2021 season. In 2022, he returned but struggled to get going to begin the year, ultimately appearing in just eight total games to rush for 520 yards. Now, he’s dealing with more lingering issues this preseason but seems to be on the mend.
John Harbaugh says lingering ACL tear is a concern
A few weeks ago, Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh was asked if the latest Dobbins absence was caused by lingering issues from the ACL tear a couple of seasons ago. He answered that yes, it’s very possible Dobbins is still struggling from that recovery.
“You know, I don’t know. It’s a fair question, and there is a point in time when it does become a concern,” Harbaugh said when asked about Dobbins earlier in the month. “J.K. and I talked last night. We talk a lot. He wants to be out there, and he needs to be out there, just like any player does. Other than that, there’s nothing else I can really add. I don’t know when he’s going to come back, but I know I’m going to be really happy when he does.”

Ravens RB Melvin Gordon says Dobbins was ‘sitting out’
One of Dobbins’ new teammates, fellow running back Melvin Gordon, may have spilled the beans on the situation when he was asked about Dobbins at recent media availability and suggested that the former Buckeye isn’t really hurt after all.
“I didn’t even know he’s sitting out, but J.K. is sitting out. They’re not even making a big headline out of it, unless you’re in Indy, I guess,” Gordon commented on Dobbins, referencing to Colts running back Jonathon Taylor, who is sitting out over a contract dispute at the moment. “And they got other players sitting out. I didn’t even know J.K. was sitting out until I came here,” he added.
Well, whether he was injured or sitting out, J.K. Dobbins is cleared to practice and should hopefully be back on the field any day now.
