Ravens HC John Harbaugh reveals Marlon Humphrey underwent surgery for foot injury
Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh confirmed Friday that star cornerback Marlon Humphrey underwent surgery for a foot injury he picked up during training camp.
Harbaugh declined to say exactly when Humphrey would return, however, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Wednesday the hope is that Humphrey is back in a “little over a month.”
“He had the surgery,” Harbaugh said. “It went very well, and I would say that the timeline is pretty well defined. I’m not gonna give it to ya, but it’s not super long. When he’s getting close, you’ll know. So you don’t need to ask probably for a few weeks. He’s gonna be back pretty early in the season and he’ll be ready to roll.”
Harbaugh, entering his 16th season at the helm, added it was Humphrey’s decision to move forward with the surgery.
“The good thing about the surgery just to give you a little background, he could’ve definitely played with it the way it was, but you do risk it getting worse. With the surgery that he got, it’s taken care of,” Harbaugh said. “So when he comes back, he won’t have to be concerned for the rest of the season. And it was Marlon’s decision, and that’s why he decided to go ahead and get that done.”

Ravens bring in short-term fix for injured Marlon Humphrey
Baltimore quickly pivoted in bringing in a short-term replacement, signing veteran cornerback Ronald Darby. The former second-round pick of the Buffalo Bills signed a three-year, $30 million deal with the Denver Broncos in March 2021. Denver parted ways with Darby this past March following a torn ACL during Week 5 of the 2022 regular season. Darby has appeared in 89 games and made 88 starts during his career. He’s amassed eight interceptions but none since the 2019 season. Darby has made 373 career tackles, including eight tackles for loss.
“Really good fit in this defense,” Harbaugh said. “Wanted to be here and we wanted him here. He’s a guy we’ve kinda been keeping our eye on with the rehab from the knee. Came in and worked out and worked out really well. Looked really good. Was in really good shape. And that’s a credit to him.”
