Report: Broncos signing veteran WR Phillip Dorsett
The Denver Broncos are signing wide receiver Phillip Dorsett, according to a report from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. He was released by the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday as part of their final cuts.
The 30-year-old had originally signed with the Raiders in March on a one-year deal.
Dorsett and Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson overlapped during Dorsett’s two stints in Seattle. His first tenure with the team came in 2020. But Dorsett never suited up for the team due to injury. The next offseason, he signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. But Dorsett was released early in the 2021 season. He then signed with the Seahawks in late September and stayed with the team months before being released on the last day of November.
The 5-foot-10 wide receiver was originally drafted in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts out of Miami. Selected with the No. 29 pick, Dorsett played two seasons with the Colts. His most productive season came in 2016 when he started seven games and caught 33 passes for 528 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Right before the start of the 2017 season, Indianapolis traded Dorsett to the New England Patriots for Jacoby Brissett. Dorsett won a Super Bowl with the Patriots.
