Report: Buffalo Bills signing quarterback Anthony Brown
Anthony Brown will be with a new NFL team after spending the last seven months with the Las Vegas Raiders. According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the former Oregon Ducks quarterback is signing with the Buffalo Bills. This comes after the Bills announced reserve QB Mitchell Trubisky is expected to miss multiple weeks with a knee injury.
Brown signed a reserve/future contract with the Raiders in January. He originally signed with the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2022 and played in two games with one start during the 2022 season. In those two games, Brown completed 44.9 percent of his passes for 302 yards and two interceptions. The Ravens released Brown before the 2023 season.
During the preseason, Brown was one of the five quarterbacks on the Raiders roster. The team recently signed Nathan Peterman, leading to the team letting Brown go. He played in the Raiders’ first preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings and completed just one of three passes for 24 yards. He also rushed for 13 yards on five carries in the team’s 24-23 loss.
“He’s [Brown] played and started in this league,” Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce said at the NFL Owners’ Meetings in March, per Sports Illustrated. “I remember we brought him in at the end of the season last year — Champ [Kelly] and myself – and he did a hell of a job in the workout. Competitor, and again, it’s another guy … there’s three in the room. But he gives you a different dynamic. Very mobile, very athletic, good out of the pocket, and a good poise about him.”

What Anthony Brown will bring to Buffalo Bills
Brown will provide experience and depth for the Bills. He will likely see a lot of action in the team’s final preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on Saturday. Starting QB Josh Allen and the rest of the starters will not play in the preseason game.
“Initially the plan was to play the ones this week, but because of the injuries and the lack of availability, we’re going to take the ones out, play the other guys, take a good look at them, it should be a good opportunity for them to put their best foot forward and for us to have a strong evaluation of that part of the roster,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said, per the Bills’ official website.
