Report: Cedrick Wilson contract details emerge from Miami Dolphins deal
The Dallas Cowboys have lost another receiver from their 2021 season, and details from Cedrick Wilson‘s new contract emerged on Monday. Wilson’s new deal is expected to be a three-year contract with nearly $13 million guaranteed, as per ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Cedrick Wilson’s new contract details
“Former Cowboys’ wide receiver Cedrick Wilson intends to sign a three-year, $22.8 million deal that includes $12.75 million guaranteed with the Miami Dolphins, sources tell Todd Archer and me. Dallas loses another WR,” stated Schefter.
Wilson will join the Dolphins young star receiver Jaylen Waddle as another offensive weapon for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Wilson caught 45 passes for 602 yards and six touchdowns for the Cowboys last season, as a key contributor to an offense starring multiple threats at the wide receiver position.
The Cowboys offense could be dramatically different by the time they take the field for the 2022 season with the departure of Wilson and star receiver Amari Cooper both. On top of the confirmed losses, another report from Monday lists offensive lineman La’el Collins as a potential lost free agent. Dallas did manage to secure one of their talented receivers for a new contract in Michael Gallup, but the high-powered 2021 offense is facing multiple changes this offseason.

Denver signs second key free agent
Shortly after the news that Wilson would be joining the Dolphins, Schefter announced another new addition to the Miami offense in quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Bridgewater is set to sign a one-year contract to backup Tagovailoa this season.
Bridgewater spent last season as the Denver Broncos’ primary starting quarterback. However, after Denver made a massive offseason trade for Seattle Seahawks All-Pro quarterback Russell Wilson, it was clear that starting for Denver was no longer an option.
The signing of Bridgewater for Miami is a huge plus. Although he has struggled to be a consistent starter since tearing his ACL while with the Minnesota Vikings, Bridgewater is a proven number two quarterback that can help a team stay on course if the starter gets injured. And with Tagovailoa’s injury history, the Dolphins now have somebody to call on for consistent play should he get bit by the injury bug again.
