Report: Clippers trading Russell Westbrook to Utah Jazz, expected to join Denver Nuggets
Former NBA MVP Russell Westbrook is on the move. It was reported earlier in the summer that Westbrook and the Clippers were headed to a divorce. It was made official Thursday afternoon after the Los Angeles-based franchise traded the veteran point guard to the Utah Jazz.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the former first-round pick of the Seattle SuperSonics, now the Oklahoma City Thunder, is on his way to Utah in exchange for Kris Dunn in a sign-and-trade deal.
“ESPN Sources: The Los Angeles Clippers are sending guard Russell Westbrook, a second-round pick swap and cash to the Utah Jazz in a sign-and-trade agreement for guard Kris Dunn,” said Wojnarowski via X.

While Westbrook is being shipped to Utah for the second time in his career, like before, Jazz fans should not get their hopes up about him playing for them next season. Shortly after the trade was announced, Wojnarowski expanded on the details, revealing that the former MVP is likely on his way to join another former MVP and finals MVP, Nikola Jokic.
“Once Russell Westbrook clears waivers, the expectation is that he’ll join the Denver Nuggets as a free agent and bring them another veteran to bolster the team’s bench and be available as a spot-starter,” said Wojnarowski.
