Report: Cody Schrader suffers hamstring injury at NFL Combine
A talented Missouri NFL Draft hopeful will have his time at the NFL Combine cut short due to injury. Running back Cody Schrader suffered an injury while running on Saturday.
According to the NFL Network broadcast, Schrader will not participate in any more drills at the NFL Combine.
“I just, Rich, spoke to a very disappointed Missouri running back, Cody Schrader,” said the NFL Network’s Stacey Dales, speaking to Rich Eisen. “He just told me he did something to his right hamstring after that last run. He is finished for the day.”
It’s not a complete loss for Schrader, as he was able to get some workouts in before he was hurt.
He clocked a 4.61 second 40-yard dash, with 1.55 second 10-yard split in it. He also cleared 33 inches in the vertical jump. But the rest of his abilities won’t be on display until Pro Day, assuming the hamstring injury isn’t too bad.
“He wanted to come in here and try to prove that he was the best back in this draft, that is what he told me this week,” Dales said. “Unfortunate day for him.”

Of course, Cody Schrader’s got plenty on tape that NFL teams will love already.
He finished as the nation’s leading rusher in 2023, averaging a whopping 125.2 yards per game. In addition to that rushing total, Scharder logged 14 touchdown carries.
That put his two-year totals at Missouri at 2,372 yards and 23 touchdowns rushing. He also racked up 41 catches for 328 yards, proving he could be used out of the backfield, too.
The NFL Network’s Lance Zierlein provided a pre-draft breakdown on Schrader.
“Ornery and competitive, Schrader’s story arc reads like a Hollywood movie,” Zierlein wrote. “The sixth-year senior dominated at Truman State before walking on at Missouri and showing he could shine against SEC competition. He’s a stocky short-strider lacking ideal explosiveness but is still a successful outside-zone back due to his vision, decisiveness and fearlessness through the line.
“He’s a volume back more likely to wear a defense down rather than gash them with chunk runs and is a capable pass protector against the blitz. Teams need to weigh the heavy production against average physical tools, but he appears to have a decent shot of becoming an RB2/3 with three-down ability.”
