Report: Dallas Cowboys 'not in the mix' for Cooper Kupp

Unless a trade materializes in the immediate future, Cooper Kupp is set to be a free agent. Plenty of teams are thought to be interested, including the Dallas Cowboys. Wide receiver is a major position of need and not many on the open market will be better than Kupp.
But as of now, nothing is expected to materialize between the two. According to NFL Network’s Jane Slater, the Cowboys are “not in the mix” for Kupp. Signing big-named free agents has never been a big priority for Dallas and the trend appears set to continue.
“I realize there is a lot of talk about Cooper Kupp and #Cowboys,” Slater said via X. “A source informed tells me “not in the mix right now.'”
Last season was not the best for Kupp as his 710 yards was the second-lowest of his career. He still surpassed the double-digit yards per reception mark at 10.6, totaling 67 catches. Six touchdowns is not too shabby of a number too considering some of the injuries he dealt with.
The Los Angeles Rams felt the need to move on from Kupp and, at the time of writing, are still looking for a trade partner. If nothing comes to fruition Kupp will be on the open market for teams to bid on.

Dallas was initially seen as a fit for multiple reasons. Dak Prescott is in desperate need of some offensive firepower other than CeeDee Lamb. Wide receiver should be an area addressed in the 2025 NFL Draft but multiple capable bodies would not hurt. Even if Kupp were to produce his down-year numbers, it would be a massive upgrade for the Cowboys.
Jalen Tolbert finished last season as the team’s second-leading receiver with 610 yards and seven touchdowns. A touchdown streak came late in December while Cooper Rush was the starting quarterback. Brandin Cooks, the perceived No. 2 receiver, did not produce much after dealing with injuries. Lamb continues to be one of the game’s great players but needs a partner in crime.
When the news of Los Angeles moving on from Kupp was revealed, he claimed to be as healthy as ever. A big bounce back season could be on deck for the former first-team All-Pro and AP Offensive Player of the Year. Somebody is going to be grateful to add Kupp to their roster but based on the reporting from Slater, the Dallas Cowboys will not be that team.
