The Dallas Cowboys have offered Micah Parsons a record-breaking contract that would make him the highest-paid non-QB in history. According to Clarence Hill of All City DLLS (via Yahoo Sports), Parsons and Cowboys owner Jerry Jones talked about a new deal without his agent, David Mulugheta. Parsons will not sign a contract without his agent’s approval.

If Parsons signs the new contract and becomes the highest-paid non-QB in NFL history, he will earn over $40 million per year. The Cleveland Browns recently signed edge rusher Myles Garrett to a deal worth $40 million, the highest for an NFL defender. Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase signed a contract worth $40.25 million per season, making him the currently highest-paid non-QB.

With the Cowboys having a new head coach, the team’s voluntary workout program begins next week. Parsons is not been a frequent member of the offseason program over the last two years, but Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer believes the star edge rusher will be around as he gets a new contract.

Will Micah Parsons particiapte in the Cowboys’ offseason workouts?

“Hey, look, at the end of the day this is a business and when you’re dealing with the money that’s being tossed around, not just with Micah but with the big-name players, negotiations sometimes take time,” Schottenheimer said from the NFL’s annual league meeting at The Breakers resort, per ESPN. “I feel very comfortable. Micah said he’s going to be around. I think that he wants to be. I think we’re all very comfortable with that. And at the end of the day he’s a great player and we think he’s just getting started, to be honest with you. I have no question in my mind that he’ll be around.”

Schottenheimer also talked about Micah Parsons being more of a leader in 2025. “Micah’s excited about the opportunity to step up in a leadership role,” Schottenheimer said. “There’s no reason he shouldn’t. The best teams I’ve ever been around, their best players are their best leaders, and so again, I think the more you’re around, the more you have a chance to influence the guys, and not just the guys that are back but there’s a bunch of new faces. We’ve added the free agency group. We’re going to add some guys in the draft. That’s a part of the puzzle. But I know he’s excited about that.”
