Report: Dalvin Cook to visit Dallas Cowboys
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, Dalvin Cook is flying to Dallas on Monday night to visit with the Cowboys. Running back is a position of need in Dallas and after not taking one during the 2024 NFL Draft, free agency has been where players were signed.
Cook presents himself as the latest option just a couple of weeks before the regular season opener. Pelissero noted this offseason has looked different for Cook, not coming off a major injury.
“The #Cowboys might not be done: Sources say 4x Pro Bowl RB Dalvin Cook is flying to Dallas tonight for a visit,” Pelissero said via X. “Unlike a year ago, when he was rehabbing from shoulder surgery, Cook has hit the weights all offseason and says he feels the best he has in years.”
Cook was a part of two teams last season, suiting up for the New York Jets and Baltimore Ravens. However, he only saw game time with the Jets, playing in 15 games with one start, rushing for 214 yards and no touchdowns on 67 carries.

Running back has been a huge offseason talking point in Dallas. Tony Pollard left in free agency, now playing for the Tennessee Titans. Rico Dowdle was viewed as the starter after being resigned until a reunion with Ezekiel Elliott took place. Deuce Vaughn and Malik Davis are also on the roster but cuts down to 53 have not yet been made.

Many thought Dallas would take a running back on Day 2 or 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft, being heavily linked with Jonathon Brooks. The front office decided to go in a different direction, though, leaving all of the work to do in free agency.
The Cowboys have flirted with the idea of signing Cook in the past, most recently as the prior offseason. However, things have not worked out and left him to play elsewhere. Maybe this go-round will be different, adding another experienced body to a position room searching for excitement.
Defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer could wind up playing a role in getting this over the finish line, if the Cowboys want to sign Cook. He was the running back’s head coach with the Minnesota Vikings for six seasons.
