Report: Dodge could possibly rejoin NASCAR Cup Series in 2027

Big news regarding a new manufacturer in not just NASCAR but in the Cup Series. Dodge has a possibility to rejoin NASCAR. It was reported earlier this month that the manufacturer had its eyes on joining the Truck Series in 2026.
Jordan Bianchi of The Athletic is reporting tonight that not only could Dodge join the Truck Series next season, but the manufacturer has a possibility of rejoining the Cup Series by 2027. A lot of moving parts behind the scenes with this one.
While Bianchi reports that NASCAR has not released a statement, where there is smoke there’s fire. The Truck Series rumor was first reported by Catchfence earlier this month. Now we have corroboration from another major source.
“NASCAR is reviewing Dodge’s submission to field a truck through its ‘Ram’ brand and an answer is expected soon, sources with knowledge of the plans said,” Bianchi writes. “While there are no guarantees, sources expect that the league will eventually approve Dodge returning. Such approval would need to happen within a few months to allow Dodge to effectively test its Ram truck before potentially hitting the track in an actual race next year.”
Dodge spent years in NASCAR. Leaving in 2016, the brand has an opportunity to once again be the sport’s fourth OEM.

Dodge could return to NASCAR Cup Series by 2027
Lately, the talk about a fourth OEM has been back and forth. Fans are about tired of hearing that a deal is close. It has been close for years. But Dodge has not been mentioned as much as say Honda, recently.
“Dodge raced in Cup from 2001 to 2012 before exiting due to financial difficulties and a lack of viable teams willing to align with it,” Bianchi continued. “People with knowledge of the discussions said Dodge is returning with the intent to eventually put together a full Cup program. That Cup program could be operational as soon as 2027 or 2028.”
This all sounds like very serious talk. It is nothing but good for NASCAR to have Dodge rejoin the sport. Plain and simple. This is everything the sport has been wanting since they lost Dodge in the first place.
If there are going to be four manufacturers in NASCAR, which teams will go to Dodge? Could we see a Cup Series team like Trackhouse Racing try and make a splash by being the first premier team to join Dodge in their second stint in the sport?
