Report: Duane Brown arrested at airport for possession of concealed firearm

NFL free agent offensive tackle Duane Brown was arrested on gun charges at LAX airport this weekend, according to a report from TMZ. Brown allegedly attempted to go through TSA with a gun in his luggage, which was unloaded per TMZ sources.

The police were called immediately upon the discovery of the weapon and Brown was taken into custody. He is charged with possession of a concealed firearm.

After spending his college days at Virginia Tech from 2003-07, Brown was selected 26th overall in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. There he spent the first 10 years of his career from 2008-17 before being traded to the Seattle Seahawks. There he has played up until this past season, in which he made a Pro Bowl appearance.

More on Duane Brown

Duane Brown has had an illustrious NFL career to date, having been named first team All-Pro in 2012 as well as making five Pro Bowl appearances. He was on the second offensive lineman from Virginia Tech to be taken in the first round of the NFL Draft, along with Eugene Chung in 1992.

Brown began his collegiate career as a tight end before moving to offensive tackle during the 2005 season. He earned second team All-ACC honors during his junior and senior seasons as the Hokies won at least 10 games in four of the five years he was on campus.

Brown was a local product, having played his high school days for Hermitage in Richmond, Virginia. There he was a three-star prospect who committed to the Hokies over offers from Maryland and Virginia among others.
