Report: Eagles trading Kenny Pickett to Browns for Dorian Thompson-Robinson, draft compensation

The Philadelphia Eagles are trading quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson, according to multiple reports. Pickett was the backup quarterback for the Eagles last season.
Pickett was with the Eagles for just one year. The former Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 20 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the team before being traded to the Eagles.
When starting quarterback Jalen Hurts was out with an injury, Pickett became the starter in the Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys. In the game, the 26-year-old completed 66.7 of his passes for 143 yards and one touchdown with a 119.6 rating in a 41-7 victory. Pickett continued to be the Eagles’ backup QB throughout the playoffs and became a Super Bowl champion when the team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.

“Coming to a team like this was awesome,” Pickett said after the Eagles’ win against the Cowboys in December, per the team’s official website. “It reminds me of a college feel how much each guy cares for each other. We’re all pulling for each other, and we all leave it all out there and that’s all you can ask for.

“And then you add the talent and that’s what makes it a really special group. It’s been a lot of fun to be here. Don’t want the ride to end so we’re going to keep working.”
Pickett also said, “I left it all out there. I did everything I could to play today. Stayed in there as long as I could, so I have no regrets or anything leaving the stadium. We got the win, and that’s all that matters. It was a special day for everyone in there.”
Kenny Pickett joins a Browns team that had quarterback issues in 2024. Deshaun Watson went down with an Achilles injury in October, which led to he team going with Jamies Winston and Dorian Thompson-Robinson. In 2024, Thompson-Robinson played in seven games with two starts and completed 51.7 precent of his passes for 440 yards, no touchdonws and six interceptions.
