Report: Former All-Pro receiver Josh Gordon to sign with new NFL team
Former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon is intending to make the Kansas City Chiefs his new team, now that he has been reinstated by the NFL. Adding Gordon to the Chiefs roster would give quarterback Patrick Mahomes another valuable target to reach their championship goals.
Kansas City, Josh Gordon’s new team?
“Former All-Pro wide receiver Josh Gordon, who is being reinstated, is planning to sign with the Kansas City Chiefs, sources tell ESPN,” reported ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “His agents, Eric Dounn and Matt Leist from LAA Sports and Entertainment, confirmed Gordon is headed to Kansas City.”
Gordon was suspended indefinitely in December 2019 for violations of the league’s policies on substance abuse and performance-enhancing substances. That was Gordon’s sixth suspension since the 2013 season and his fifth related to substance abuse.
Following the news that Gordon would be reinstated to play this season, interested teams have been looking at him as a potential addition.
If signed by the Chiefs officially, Gordon would be joining Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to improve an already potent offense.
In his NFL career, Gordon has 4,252 yards and 20 touchdowns on just 247 receptions. With eight years in the league on three different teams, the Chiefs would be his fourth team. Gordon received first-team All-Pro honors in 2013 where he recorded a league-leading 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.

Gordon’s reinstatement
Gordon’s new agent Zac Hiller from LAA Sports Entertainment publicly expressed how thankful they were with the NFL’s decision to reinstate him.
“We are grateful that the NFL appreciates the work that Josh put in and now he has earned another opportunity to be part of this league,” Hiller said. “We are proud of Josh, and I know all the fans can’t wait to see him on Sundays.”
The Houston native had been conditionally reinstated by the NFL in December of 2020 but things did not go as planned after Gordon had a setback in his recovery, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
His latest indefinite suspension had begun in January, after the NFL rescinded his conditional reinstatement. The former All-Pro receiver applied for reinstatement in July and the NFL Players Association recommended Gordon be reinstated.
