Report: Former Oregon TE Patrick Herbert signs undrafted free agent deal with Jacksonville Jaguars

Former Oregon tight end Patrick Herbert has signed an undrafted free agent deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports reported. He is the brother of Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert.
Patrick Herbert spent six seasons with the Ducks and appeared in 41 games over the past three years. He ended his career with 31 catches for 388 yards and four touchdowns.
Patrick Herbert played one season with his brother at Oregon in 2019. He would go on to sit out of the next two seasons due to injury before returning to the field in 2022.
This past season he helped lead the Ducks to a Big Ten Championship and the No. 1 seed in the College Football Playoff. His best season came as a junior in 2023 when he recorded 15 catches for 196 yards and three touchdowns.

Patrick Herbert played high school football at Sheldon in Eugene, Oregon, where he was a four-star recruit in the 2019 cycle. He ranked as the No. 210 overall player and No. 8 tight end in the cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
Herbert joins a Jaguars team that is coming off of a disappointing 4-13 finish in 2024. They got a weapon in the passing game by trading up to draft former Colorado star Travis Hunter, and now Herbert will look to help bolster the offense as well.
Jacksonville is scheduled to play against the Chargers this season, so Patrick and Justin Herbert could potentially get to face off against each other. For that to happen, Patrick will have to prove himself worthy to make the 53-man roster as he goes through training camp with the team.
