The Philadelphia Eagles are adding depth to the running back position by signing AJ Dillon. Per Jordan Schultz of FOX Sports, the former Green Bay Packers running back is signing a contract with the Eagles.

The Packers selected Dillon in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent his time as a backup running back but made an impact when he was on the field. In 60 games, AJ Dllion rushed for 2,428 yards and 16 touchdowns on 579 carries. His best season was in 2021 when he rushed for 803 yards and five touchdowns.

Before the 2024 season, Dillon signed a one-year qualifying offer. He did not play in one game during the 2024 season, as he was placed on injured reserve in August due to a neck injury.

AJ Dillon talks about his goals for the 2025 season

Before this year’s Super Bowl, Dillon spoke to On3 about his health heading into the 2025 season. “I’m feeling good. I’m ready to go right now,” Dillon told On3. “So, I’m itching to get back out there, man. I’ve never sat out on the couch or anything like that before, so that was a terrible feeling. So, I’m ready to go. I’ve watched enough football… I’m ready to go out there and play.”

Dillon also told On3 what he wanted to accomplish when he gets back on the field. “I think one of the best parts of my game and what I’ve always provided is just kind of being reliable,” he said. “I pride myself on being able to provide and help out the team in any situation. So, whether that’s catching the ball, blocking, running, that’s really just to get back out there and get back to what I’m great at. I feel like I can help out the team wherever is needed and be a great wingman out there.”

AJ Dillon joins an Eagles running back group led by the reigning Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkley. In his first season with the Eagles, Barkley rushed for an NFL-leading 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries. His work on the ground helped the Eagles win their second Super Bowl in eight seasons.
