DeAndre Hopkins is currently the hottest commodity in the NFL after his release from the Arizona Cardinals back at the end of May. As he’s taking visits across the league, several franchises are vying to get him in town and eventually on their roster for next season.

Now, the latest team to earn one those visits is the New England Patriots. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that update this morning as New England, a perceived option throughout the process, is looking to pick up a very important target for QB Mac Jones.

Tennessee is the only other team to this point that got a visit from Hopkins so far. Other teams connected to the three-time All-Pro are the Kansas City, Buffalo, Dallas, and Cleveland amongst others.

It’s no wonder why all these teams are tripping over each other, though, to earn Hopkins’ signature. Over the last three seasons in Arizona, he proved he is still a top-notch receiver with 221 catches for just under 2,700 receiving yard and 17 touchdowns. However, due to injury or suspension, that production was capped as he missed 15 games over the past two campaigns.

Still, even with the missed time, Hopkins is the kind of player that New England could really use. Over Jones’ two seasons as a Patriot, the team’s pass-catching talent hasn’t been overwhelming. It’s been good enough for him to throw just under 6,800 passing yards and 36 touchdowns on 66.5% completion but, with 24 interceptions and a 16-16 record as a starter, adding a player like Hopkins could help better determine whether he’s their go-to quarterback moving forward or if there’s more uncertainty around him.

Again, Hopkins is the name to watch in the NFL at the moment as he goes through this process. Depending on where he lands, it could be a real needle-moving transaction for a team, specifically one that’s a contender.

The former Florida State Seminoles star has only known one NFL franchise since coming into the league. That’s all about to change. On Thursday, the Vikings and their four-time Pro Bowl running back decided to part ways.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed the news on Twitter. Now, Cook will look to begin the next chapter in his career.

Moreover, ESPN’s Adam Schefter added that the Vikings will try one last time on Thursday to trade Cook to one of his many suitors, before they likely release him for nothing but cap space.

“Vikings are expected to try to trade four-time Pro-Bowl RB Dalvin Cook one more time today and if they are unable to, they would plan to process his official release Friday, per source,” tweeted Schefter.
