Report: Giants WR Wan'Dale Robinson expected to make season debut vs. 49ers
Former Kentucky star Wan’Dale Robinson has been working his way back from an ACL injury he suffered last season. Last year, he showed flashes of promise in his rookie season with the New York Giants, and the franchise some good news on Wednesday evening. According to Jordan Schultz, Robinson is expected to play in Thursday Night Football against the San Francisco 49ers and make his debut for the 2023 season.
He was selected by the New York Giants with the No. 43 overall selection in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Last year before his injury, he hauled in 23 catches for 223 receiving yards and a touchdown. The former UK star only played in six games his rookie season, before going down with his season ending injury.
After he transferred to Kentucky for his final year of college football, Robinson enjoyed a breakout campaign. He became the first Wildcat with a 100-yard receiving game in an SEC opener since Garrett Johnson did it against Florida in 2014.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pounder also caught 12 passes for 39 yards against top-ranked Georgia. His 12 catches were the most for a UK player against a No. 1 ranked opponent in school history.

In just one season at with the Wildcats, Robinson caught a team-high 104 passes and had 1,334 receiving yards, setting single-season school records. He had six 100-yard games in the 2021 season, which ranks second on Kentucky’s single-season list. He joined Randall Cobb as only the second receiver in school history to have 12 or more receptions in multiple games during their career. He also became just the sixth player in SEC history to catch at least 100 passes in a season.
He racked up an extensive number of accolades in 2021, including Vrbo Citrus Bowl MVP honors, second team All-American honors (PFF), and first team All-SEC honors from Phil Steele and PFF. Once he wrapped up his dynamic college career, Robinson had racked up 3,190 total all-purpose yards.
A former four-star recruit in the class of 2019, Robinson ranked as the No. 12 receiver and No. 54 player according to the On3 Industry Rankings. He chose to attend Nebraska over offers from big-time schools such as Alabama, Michigan and Ohio State. Robinson’s playmaking ability was still on display in Lincoln as he ended his two-year career with 91 catches for 914 yards and three touchdowns. He was also utilized as a running back there, totaling 580 yards rushing and four touchdowns.
