According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Green Bay Packers have signed linebacker Isaiah Simmons to be a part of the 2025 roster. Simmons is a former first-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals and previously played for the New York Giants as well.

“Packers signed LB Isaiah Simmons, who originally selected in the first round (No. 8 overall) of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals,” Schefter said via X. “He has played in 84 regular-season games for the Cardinals and Giants.”

Simmons played in 17 games last season for the Giants but started just one of them. Sports Reference listed him as a safety, showing off the type of versatility Simmons has. A total of 21 tackles were recorded in addition to a quarterback hit.

As mentioned, Green Bay will mark the third different team Simmons has played for in his short career. Arizona took him with the 8th overall pick back in 2020. The hope was that Simmons would continue to be a Swiss Army knife for them, similar to how he performed during his college days with the Clemson Tigers.

He wound up spending just three seasons with the Cardinals before ties were cut. New York took advantage and got two years out of Simmons. The numbers were not great but a lot of his playing time did come from the special teams unit. Simmons took 146 snaps on special teams, just lower than 181 with the Giants defense.

Latest information provided on situation surrounding Packers cornerback Jaire Alexander

With the 2025 NFL Draft in the rearview, the Packers are looking to get back to the playoffs and compete for a Super Bowl this coming season after welcoming the football world to Green Bay this past weekend. Someone who could help them accomplish that goal is star defensive back Jaire Alexander.

At the moment, the former first round pick’s future is murky with the franchise. According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, the two sides are speaking about a possible resolution, which could include a reconciliation to where Alexander plays for the Packers in 2025 after all, something that many didn’t expect over the course of the offseason.

There are multiple options on the table, including the Packers releasing Alexander outright, trading the defender or him returning to Green Bay, per Demovsky. Which one ends up coming to fruition remains to be seen.
