Report: Green Bay Packers sign Nazir Stackhouse as undrafted free agent

The Green Bay Packers have signed former Georgia defensive tackle Nazir Stackhouse, according Matt Zenitz of 247 Sports. He played the past five seasons with the Bulldogs and will now look to prove himself in the NFL.
Stackhouse won two national championships during his time in Athens in 2021 and 2022. This past year he recorded 27 tackles and one pass defended while starting 13 of 14 games.
The 6-foot-3 defensive lineman was a three-year starter at Georgia, beginning in the 2022 season. He had two tackles and a quarterback hurry in the national championship game that year. Overall, he finished with 33 total tackles (three for loss) that season.
Stackhouse continued to improve the following year to earn second team All-SEC honors in 2023. He recorded a career-best two sacks that season along with making the only interception of his career.
Stackhouse played high school football at Columbia in Decatur, Georgia, where he was a four-star prospect. He ranked as the No. 254 overall player and No. 32 defensive lineman in the 2020 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Stackhouse joins a Packers team that has a couple of his former Georgia teammates with linebacker Quay Walker and safety Javon Bullard. He’ll now join them in training camp this offseason where he’ll look to show his value at the pro level.
What NFL draft analysts are saying about Nazir Stackhouse
NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein offered his analysis of what Stackhouse brings in his recent scout of the defensive lineman’s draft profile. He noted his strength and ability and power to knock down blockers but suggested that his speed could cause issues as he is slow to get out of the gap.
“Two-down rotational defensive tackle with good strength but limited production,” Zierlein wrote. “Stackhouse is a block-eater with tight hips that limit his ability at the point of attack, but he’s still hard to move out of the hole.
“He’s more powerful than twitchy and is slow getting off the ball and into his action upfield or laterally. His lack of quickness, production and pass-rush ability could cap his draft value but there is always a market for big, strong guys who can play the run.
