Report: Indianpolis Colts target Eagles offensive coordiantor Shane Steichen as next head coach
The Indianapolis Colts are expected to name Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Shane Steichen to be their next head coach, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
The official announcement will likely come next week with Steichen coaching in tonight’s Super Bowl. Schefter reports that Steichen and the Colts will meet early next week to discuss contract details. Indianapolis reportedly told other candidates on Friday that they planned on going in another direction.
Steichen has been instrumental in the development of the young core of Eagles offensive stars that sent Phili to the Super Bowl this season including Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith.
He’ll look to do the same with the ailing Colts, whose 4-12-1 record earned them the No. 4 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Look for him to draft someone he believes will be the team’s new franchise quarterback to kick off his head coaching career.

Alabama, Oklahoma unite to support Jalen Hurts in Super Bowl
It’s been a long journey for Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts on the way to his first Super Bowl appearance. Now the two schools that he played for in college are teaming up to wish him good luck.
On the eve of Super Bowl LVII, the Alabama football account tweeted out a video featuring highlights of Hurts both in college and the pros. Not only did the video show clips of Hurts with the Crimson Tide, but also Oklahoma, whom he played for in his senior season. The Sooners responded to the tweet by combining the slogans of the two teams.
“Boomer Tide,” the OU football account wrote.
Hurts began his college career at Alabama in 2016 as a four-star recruit with plenty of promise. He immediately took over the starting job as a true freshman and led the Crimson Tide to the national championship, though they lost to Clemson. The next year in 2017 he again led them back to the title game.
