Report: Jalen Milroe accepts invitation to attend 2025 NFL Draft

Jalen Milroe bet on himself by entering the NFL Draft when many suggested he return for another season in college. Now the dual-threat Alabama quarterback is doubling-down, reportedly accepting an invitation to attend the 2025 NFL Draft in Green Bay, according to The Athletic’s Dane Brugler.
Milroe’s invitation to attend the draft in-person might be a bit of a surprise given the NFL generally prefers to limit its invitations to likely first-round picks to avoid any embarrassing visuals of players sitting in the green room amid a Day 1 slide. And by most accounts, Milroe is considered a fringe first-round pick at best that is more likely to be a Day 2 selection. Suffice it to say, it could be a long wait for the former Crimson Tide signal-caller.
But the supremely-athletic Milroe clearly isn’t worried about that possibility, potentially indicating he’s been given some sense he will be selected on the first day of the 2025 NFL Draft set for April 24-26 from Green Bay.
Longtime ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. recently bumped Milroe to No. 5 on his latest Top 10 list of draft-eligible quarterbacks, behind likely first-round quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders of Colorado and expected No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward of Miami, as well as fast-climbing QBs Jaxson Dart of Ole Miss and Tyler Shough of Louisville. Dart has recently gained steam as a potential Top 10 pick if Ward and Sanders get selected in the first three picks, with Shough also garnering some late first-round buzz.

Colin Cowherd predicts Steelers draft Jalen Milroe amid Aaron Rodgers uncertainty
Milroe, meanwhile, remains a bit of an enigma for draft evaluators, with some raving about his athletic gifts as both a natural runner with electric speed and strong throwing arm, while others remain critical of his accuracy and consistency as a passer after throwing a career-worst 11 interceptions last season.
Still, some like FS1 radio host Colin Cowherd believe teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers are enamored with Milroe’s overall makeup and think his athletic gifts will translate well into the NFL.
“I’ve been told the Steelers are looking around at all these AFC quarterbacks and Milroe is the most athletically-gifted guy to come out of this draft at that position since Lamar Jackson, and they feel as an organization that they need ‘special,’” Cowherd said in late March. “They just don’t stack up, they need special at quarterback. And I’ve said he’s a better version of Anthony Richardson. Great kid, throws a deep ball, and now with D.K. Metcalf, they have a deep threat along with (George) Pickens. … If its the 21st pick and Milroe is not taken, Pittsburgh is leaning now in taking him.
“Milroe’s an insane athlete who throws a beautiful deep ball, big-time athlete, wonderful kid, great family, but he’s incredibly inconsistent, and probably needs to sit for a year to be ready to play in the NFL, if it even works.
