Former Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams will reportedly sign with the Detroit Lions practice squad, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Former Pro-Bowl safety Jamal Adams is signing with the Lions practice squad with the idea that he’ll be elevated to Detroit’s roster, per source,” Schefter wrote on Twitter. “Adams had been eyeing an opportunity with a playoff contender. Adams’ agent, Kevin Conner confirmed the agreement.”

Adams had a cup of coffee with the Tennessee Titans earlier this year, playing in three games. He began his career in 2017 with the New York Jets, spending three seasons with the franchise.

Eventually, he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks ahead of the 2020 season and played four years with the team.

Over the course of his career, Adams has 498 tackles, 50 tackles for loss, 21.5 tackles for loss, four interceptions, 36 pass deflections, seven forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries and two defensive touchdowns.

Adams was named First-Team All-Pro in 2019 and twice named Second-Team (2018 and ’20). A three-time Pro Bowler, Adams is the former No. 6 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft out of LSU by the Jets.

In three years at LSU, Adams was a Second-Team All-American (2016), First-Team All-SEC (2016) and Second-Team (2015). In total, he had 209 total tackles, 18 tackles for loss, two sacks, five interceptions and two forced fumbles.

As a member of the Class of 2014, Adams was a four-star recruit out of Carrollton (Texas) Hebron, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He was the No. 4 overall prospect in the state, the No. 4 safety in the class and the No. 35 overall prospect in the class.
