Report: Johnny Juzang agrees to four-year, $12 million deal with Utah Jazz
Johnny Juzang is reportedly heading back to the Jazz.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Utah Jazz are re-signing Juzang to his first standard deal in the NBA. The contract will reportedly be worth $12 million over the next four years.
Juzang has spent the past pair of seasons on two separate two-way contracts in Salt Lake City.
In that time, Juzang has appeared in 38 games, including five starts, for Utah. He has averaged 6.1 points and two rebounds over those two professional seasons with the Jazz.
During this past year where he played 20 of those with all five starts, Juzang improved his statistics. He ended up posting 7.2 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in just under 19 minutes per game. He did so while shooting 46.4% from the field and 41.6% from three on 1.6 makes from deep.
Juzang was a former four-star recruit out of Harvard Westlake as a native of Studio City, California. He was a four-star prospect there as the No. 34 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle. He also rated as the No. 6 SF in the class and the No. 3 player in the state behind only Isaiah Mobley and Onyeka Okongwu, both of which played at USC.
Juzang played three collegiate seasons total with one at Kentucky and two at UCLA.
His one season in Lexington was a quieter one at just 2.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in a little over a dozen minutes while a Wildcat. However, upon returning to Los Angeles, he thrived as a Bruin. In his 57 games back in Hollywood, he averaged 15.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. That made him a two-time All Pac-12 Selection. It also helped UCLA to at least pair of Sweet 16 appearances. ’20-’21 was the more notable run, though, with him as an All-Region and All-Tournament performer that led the program to the Final Four.
After that college career, no team selected Juzang in the 2022 NBA Draft. Even so, the Jazz signed him afterward to the first of his two two-way deals.
