Report: Kedon Slovis to sign with Indianapolis Colts as undrafted free agent
Former BYU quarterback Kedon Slovis has agreed to an undrafted free agent deal with the Indianapolis Colts, per Tom Pelissero. Pelissero did not provide the financial details of the contract.
Slovis had a lengthy college career that included multiple stops, courtesy of the NCAA transfer portal. He began his career at USC, where he spent three seasons before transferring to Pittsburgh for the 2022 season. After one season with the Panthers, Slovis hit the portal again and transferred to BYU.
Statistically he didn’t have his best year at BYU, but he did finish the year with 1,716 yards passing with 12 touchdowns to just six interceptions.
Outside of his freshman year at USC, which was his most productive in college, that output at BYU was one of his best touchdown to interception ratios. Slovis also scored on the ground for the first time, doing so three times.
In his career as a whole, Slovis threw for 11,689 yards and 80 touchdowns, against 39 interceptions. NFL teams will likely want him to cut down on that turnover rate quite a bit.
Slovis played high school football at Desert Mountain (AZ), where he was a three-star prospect. He was the No. 580 overall recruit in the 2019 cycle, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Kedon Slovis
Many NFL Draft analysts aren’t overly enamored with Slovis based on his college career, but he does have some tools to work with.
Still, now in the NFL, Slovis will have to prove he can shore up his tendency to turn it over. Some of that is strictly arm talent; his is just average.
Here’s what NFL Draft analyst Lance Zierlein had to say in evaluating Kedon Slovis:
“Five-year starter with experience at three different schools. Slovis was the talk of college football after completing 72 percent of his passes with 30 touchdowns and 9 interceptions as a freshman in 2019. Since that time, his overall play and production have declined.
“He has good size and throws with decent timing but doesn’t have enough arm strength to make pro throws into tight windows on a consistent basis. He struggles with deep-ball accuracy and occasionally puts throws up for grabs when he’s under pressure. Slovis will likely face an uphill battle to make a team.”
