Report: Las Vegas Raiders expected to franchise Josh Jacobs if no deal is reached by deadline
The Las Vegas Raiders want former Alabama running back and pending free agent Josh Jacobs to be part of the future under head coach Josh McDaniels heading into year two of the new regime. As such, the Raiders are reportedly planning to franchise tag Jacobs if the two sides can’t come to terms on an extension prior to the Tuesday deadline, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
Jacobs led the NFL in rushing in 2022, driving up his value immensely in a contract year. While a new deal could provide long-term security and bonus upside, Jacobs would still make north of $10 million on the franchise tag in 2023.
Jacobs had 1653 rushing yards last season to go with 12 touchdowns, both career highs. The former Alabama star back has put himself in a prime position to get paid — especially if he and the Raiders can get a deal done and avoid the franchise tag.
Bryce Young reveals advice he received from Mac Jones on handling NFL Combine, draft prep
New England Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was once teammates with Bryce Young when the two of them played together at Alabama. Now, Jones is doing what he can to help Young get ready for the NFL Draft.

“I’ve talked to a good amount of guys,” Bryce Young. “I’ve tried to prepare myself as much as I can for the next level and for this process.”
“Specifically, I was talking to Mac earlier this week and he gave me a lot of great advice about kind of just how to carry yourself. Things that he’s learned in his years there. A lot of things that I’m gonna take and hold onto. I’m super grateful for the guidance I’ve gotten from him on top of many other NFL players.”
Bryce Young was Mac Jones’ backup at Alabama during the team’s last national championship season. Clearly, they still have a good relationship from that time. However, it’s highly unlikely they find themselves roaming the same sidelines at the NFL level.
