The Los Angeles Chargers are expected to hire former Michigan offensive coordinator and quarterback coach Kirk Campbell as an offensive assistant, NFL insider Tom Pelissero reports.

Having the Chargers hire Campbell would mean a reunion with former Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh. Campbell was an integral part of Harbaugh’s staff in Ann Arbor, working closely with J.J. McCarthy during Michigan’s national championship run in 2023.

Michigan fired Campbell after the 2024 season after spending one year as the team’s offensive coordinator. Campbell was not on Michigan’s staff when they defeated Alabama in the ReliaQuest Bowl. In his stead, tight ends coach Steve Casula served as the interim offensive coordinator. They have since hired Chip Lindsey as the new OC/QB coach in Ann Arbor.

Campbell’s departure come after a season where the Wolverines offense regressed, largely due to diminished quarterback play. The Wolverines ranked among the worst passing offenses in the nation in 2024, ranking 129th out of 133 teams in the FBS, with only Iowa and the three service academies ranking lower. The Wolverines were one of seven FBS teams in 2024 to average fewer than 150 passing yards per game.

“After a thorough assessment of our offense, I made the decision to relieve Kirk Campbell of his duties and move in a different direction,” Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore said in a release announcing the move in December. “This was a decision that I felt was in the best interest of our football program. I want to thank Kirk for his hard work and dedication to the university, Michigan Football and our student-athletes. I wish him well in his future coaching endeavors.”

LA Chargers hire former Florida State DC Adam Fuller as safeties coach

The Los Angeles Chargers are set to hire former Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel earlier this month.

“The Chargers are set to hire former Florida State DC Adam Fuller as the team’s new safeties coach,” Thamel wrote on Twitter. “He’s a veteran college defensive coordinator with stops at FSU, Memphis and Marshall. He served as the head coach at Assumption College in 2008.”

Fuller spent the last five seasons as Florida State’s DC and will now coach the safeties under head coach Jim Harbaugh out west.

Fuller’s coaching career dates back to 1998 and he held numerous assistant coaching positions for the next 10 years. He was the head coach of Assumption College in 2008, going 1-9.
