Rookie tight end Terrance Ferguson has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams, his agent tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The second-round pick is expected to sign a four-year $9.7 million contract, including over $8 million guaranteed.

Ferguson was taken by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 46 overall pick during April’s 2025 NFL Draft. He played his college football for the Oregon Ducks.

A four-year player at Oregon, Ferguson has plenty of experience under his belt. His role grew over the years, but 53 college games are on his resume. Ferguson recorded 134 catches for 1,537 yards and 15 touchdowns.

The 2024 season was his best, at least from a receptions and yards standpoint. Ferguson caught 43 passes for 591 yards with a new quarterback, Dillon Gabriel. Oregon’s offense was once again near the top in college football, winning the Big Ten.

Making matters even more incredible, there was a major procedure Ferguson underwent midseason. Ahead of a conference showdown against Purdue, Ferguson had to get his appendix removed. While he might have fought through other injuries, Lanning knew this one required some time on the sidelines.

Ferguson returned for the final four regular season games, the Big Ten Championship, and College Football Playoff quarterfinal game. The same kind of toughness will surely translate over as his NFL career gets underway.

Now that he’s signed with the Rams for the next four seasons, Ferguson will look to showcase his skills at the next level early and often. However, he’ll be splitting time alongside Tyler Higbee, who has some contract incentives he’d like to hit this season. Higbee has been with the team since 2016 and has the opportunity to be compensated as high as $875,000 on top of his salary if he reaches all of his goals, which include up to 600 receiving yards and a playoff appearance in LA.

With that motivating Higbee, especially after playing just three games in 2024, the longtime Rams tight end could be due for a breakout season this fall. However, that remains to be seen now that they’ve added a second-round tight end talent in Ferguson.

The Los Angeles Rams will kick off their 2025 NFL season against the Houston Texans in Week 1 on Sept. 7. Before that, Ferguson will be able to showcase his skills during training camp and in the preseason. Their preseason schedule begins on Aug. 9 against the Dallas Cowboys.
