Amir Khan may ride his newfound viral fame into a dream job. According to a report from Evan Sidery of Forbes, the McNeese State basketball manager is receiving “significant interest” from NBA teams.

Khan will interview will at least five teams during the NBA Scouting Combine for the position of “team attendant.” He is on pace to graduate from McNeese State in the fall with a degree in sports management.

The manager rose to fame in February when a video featuring him went viral on X. In it, he walked out with a boombox while dancing and rapping along with McNeese State players to “In & Out” by artist Lud Foe.

It earned him the nickname of “Aura Khan” and plenty of coverage throughout March Madness. McNeese State earned a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament, resulting in even more national exposure for Khan.

The Cowboys pulled off an upset of Clemson in the first round before unfortunately seeing their run end against Purdue. It seems to be only the beginning for Khan’s career, however.

During the midst of the team’s run and his viral moment, Khan would go on to surpass the $100,000 mark in NIL deals, including with Buffalo Wild Wings and Insomnia Cookies. Now it looks like it could even land him a job opportunity right out of graduation.

Amir Khan calls reports of his move to NC State ‘a bit premature’

Khan addressed his future during an exclusive interview on KFC Radio at Barstool Sports. He said he’d just gotten back to campus in Lake Charles following the Cowboys’ appearance in the tournament with him now having time to consider what he wants to do next.

That would include now following Will Wade to NC State despite the reporting of that happening being “premature” at this point. But with the report that he is now drawing NBA interest, that’s even more up in the air.

“Definitely, you know,” Khan said of whether he’d consider taking an NBA job. “I think, like, you know, that’s a dream of mine. So, for sure. If an NBA team approaches me after all this, I would definitely consider it.

“But I would say, you know, yeah – the dream is right now to get into coaching and, you know, I still have a lot more to learn from Coach Wade and, you know, he’s one of the best coaches in college basketball, so, and we already have a close relationship. So, I think, I think that would be, you know, sticking with him probably would be, you know, the thing I’d want to do.”
