Bo Davis, while staying in-state, is reportedly leaving LSU.

Per Luke Johnson of New Orleans Times-Picayune, Davis will be becoming the new defensive line coach for the New Orleans Saints.

Davis had been back at his alma mater for one season as the defensive line coach for the Tigers. He started his coaching career in Baton Rouge as well as a graduate assistant and strength and conditioning coach from 1995 to 1997 and an assistant strength and conditioning coach from 2002 to 2005.

In his lone year as their coach, LSU had defensive linemen and defensive tackles that posted 66 tackles and 7 sacks. Gio Paez (21 tackles, one sack) and Ahmad Breaux (17 tackles) led those positions in tackles while Dominick McKinley (seven tackles, three sacks) and Jay’Viar Suggs (10 tackles, 2.5 sacks) led them in sacks.

Davis himself was a nose tackle for the Tigers back from 1990 to 1992. During that time, he was a selection as an All-SEC player.

Davis made previous stops at Texas and Alabama with two tenures apiece with the Longhorns (2011-2013 and 2021-2023) and the Crimson Tide (2007-2010 and 2014-2015). As part of just over two decades in college football, Davis was a part of three national title-winning teams, all on staffs for Nick Saban, in 2003 at LSU and then in 2009 and 2015 at ‘Bama.

This is now also the second stop in the pros for Davis. He was the defensive line coach for the Detroit Lions from 2018-2020 while being an assistant defensive line and strength and conditioning coach for the Miami Dolphins in 2006.

Davis has been one of the better coaches on the defensive line over the past thirty years. The Saints will now be adding him, with it being his third franchise in the NFL, for their new staff under Kellen Moore.
