According to John Clark of NBC Sports Philly, the Philadelphia Eagles have accepted an invitation to the White House after their Super Bowl victory. A date has not been confirmed but Clark says logistics are being figured out. At some point, the Eagles will see President Donald Trump in the nation’s capital to celebrate the franchise’s second Super Bowl.

“An Eagles team spokesperson confirmed the Eagles organization has accepted an invite to visit the White House and they are working on scheduling a date and logistics,” Clark said via X.

This will be the franchise’s first-ever trip to the White House in the Super Bowl era. After winning the Lombardi Trophy in February 2018, a trip to see President Trump was on the calendar before being canceled. June 5 was the original date but the day before, the plans were dropped over disputes over the National Anthem being played.

Visiting the White House is a tradition in the NFL dating back to 1980 when the Pittsburgh Steelers were the first franchise to do so. Football is not the only sport to send championship teams there, as a lengthy list of leagues have been invited.

Kansas City went to see now-former President Joe Biden after winning the Super Bowl in two consecutive years. Another trip to Washington DC was right on the doorstep but the Chiefs found themselves in an unfamiliar position of late, losing in the Super Bowl.

Philadelphia Eagles sending Kenny Pickett to Cleveland Browns

The Philadelphia Eagles are trading quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns for a 2025 fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinsonaccording to multiple reports. Pickett was the backup quarterback for the Eagles last season.

Pickett was with the Eagles for just one year. The former Pittsburgh Panthers quarterback was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 20 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft and spent two seasons with the team before being traded to the Eagles.

When starting quarterback Jalen Hurts was out with an injury, Pickett became the starter in the Eagles’ Week 17 game against the Dallas Cowboys. In the game, the 26-year-old completed 66.7 of his passes for 143 yards and one touchdown with a 119.6 rating in a 41-7 victory. Pickett continued to be the Eagles’ backup QB throughout the playoffs and became a Super Bowl champion when the team defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
