The Steelers started over at quarterback this off season, parting ways with players on the old depth chart in favor of Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. But Pittsburgh may be looking for another QB in next week’s NFL Draft.

This is according to CBS Sports reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala. She also said the Steelers may sift through the free agency market as well. Pittsburgh also signed Kyle Allen, who is QB3 as of now. But none of the trio of quarterbacks is on contract beyond the upcoming season.

This year’s quarterback draft class is top heavy with elite players. In fact, the first four picks of the draft may be quarterbacks. And if there’s a run at the position, as many as six could go in the first round, which would tie an NFL record set in 1983. That QB class included future Hall of Famers John Elway, Dan Marino and Jim Kelly.

The Steelers are thought to be looking at using their top two draft picks on an offensive lineman and receiver. The team brought in 35 prospects for official visits. Of that group, 14 of them were offensive linemen. The Athletic reported that the overall group included nine players with a potential first-round grade, with six of them being o-linemen.

Those taking visits included Troy Fautanu, Washington; Taliese Fuaga, Oregon State; Graham Barton, Duke; Amarius Mims, Georgia; Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon and Tyler Guyton, Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, the highest-ranked receiver on the Steelers’ guest list was Adonai Mitchell (Texas). Other guests with second-day grades included Ricky Pearsall, Florida; Malachi Corley, Western Kentucky and Xavier Legette, South Carolina.

But maybe Pittsburgh uses a later round pick for a quarterback. The CBS reporter said the Steelers could use a late pick next Friday or one from next Saturday’s final round. There could be as many as 10 quarterbacks taken in the draft, maybe more. At least 11 have grades or seventh round or as a priority free agent.

The Steelers worked out Kory Curtis at their team complex. But they didn’t bring in a big-name quarterback for a draft visit. Sports Illustrated reported that the Steelers initially had interest in former Tennessee star Joe Milton III. But the draft price on Milton has increased. One scout told NFL.com that Milton could be destined for the fourth or fifth round.

Other quarterbacks who could go late in the draft include BYU’s Kedon Slovis and Florida State’s Jordan Travis.
