Report: Rajon Rondo arrested on gun, drug charges in Indiana
Former Kentucky star and NBA champion Rajon Rondo has been arrested on gun and drug charges in Indiana, per report.
“Rondo was stopped for a traffic violation in Jackson County, Indiana, Sunday afternoon and a trooper smelled marijuana, leading to a search that found a gun and drug paraphernalia, ISP spokesman Sgt. Stephen Wheeles said Monday night,” a report from WDRB in Louisville reads.
The former NBA star was cited for unlawful possession of a firearm as well as possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana, per court records obtained by WDRB.
He was taken to Jackson County jail and immediately posted bond. All of the charges are misdemeanors and his arraignment has yet to be revealed.
Because of a prior charge stemming from 2022 where Rondo allegedly brandished a gun against a Louisville woman in his home. The incident arose from an in-home situation that allegedly ended with Rondo leaving the scene and coming back with the firearm.
Due to the incident, a no-contact order was taken out against him in court which issued him to no longer have possession of a firearm. Of course, Rondo was found with a firearm during Monday’s traffic stop. It remains to be seen how that will affect the outcome of his court appearance.
Rondo is a Louisville high school basketball lengend having played at Eastern before transferring over to national power Oak Hill (VA). He eventually committed to Kentucky and went on to play 16 seasons in the NBA after being drafted in the first round of the 2006 NBA Draft by the Phoenix Suns.

During his NBA career, Rondo was a part of two NBA Championship winning squads with the Boston Celtics in 2008 and the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020, respectively. His last stint in the NBA saw him play for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
On top of his NBA titles, Rondo ended his career making four All-Star teams and finished Top-15 all-time in total assists.
The Greater Louisville Pride Foundation named Rondo one of six Louisville-natives to be depicted on the city’s ‘Hometown Heroes’ banners hung throughout the city. On top of that, he started the Rajon Rondo Foundation in 2011 to help underserved youth across the country and also hosts Camp Rondo annually since 2007 with the hopes of giving back to his community.
There were reports that Rondo was considered for an assistant coach role on John Calipari’s staff at his alma mater this season, but nothing ultimately came of that.
