Report: Rashee Rice's mother charged following stolen package allegations
Kansas City Chiefs WR Rashee Rice‘s mother, Marsha Kearney, was hit with a misdemeanor charge for allegedly stealing a package last month, TMZ reports.
Kearney was caught on video appearing to steal a package from the front porch of her neighbor on Sept. 29. The package contained Chappell Roan records, and a warrant was issued for the 43-year-old on Oct. 8. She turned herself in on Oct. 15, according to the report.
She was charged with one count of mail theft.
The Sept. 29 incident was all caught on camera, and Kearney’s case wasn’t helped when it became clear that the homeowner’s doorbell camera had been revealed. The video depicted woman in a Rashee Rice jersey, distinctively customized to spell ‘Momma Rice’ across the back, walking past their front door.
Before leaving the camera’s shot, she appearing to glance down at something at the front of their neighbor’s door. Some time later, she walked past the door once again and appears to pick up the package and walk outside of the camera’s range with it in-hand.
The incident occured after the Chiefs defeated the Chargers in Los Angeles in Week 4, according to the inital report by TMZ. The report also revealed that a police report was filed regarding the alleged incident, which adds up when taking into account the date the warrant was issued and when Kearney eventually turned herself in.

This coincided with Rashee Rice himself suffering a knee injury during the first half of Kansas City’s road win over the Chargers. He will not be back this season.
TMZ’s report did not specify how long Kearney was in custody for, but a mugshot was provided along with the article.
However, Kearney also made news ealier this year, she was charged over claims of theft but was later dismissed in June after she “completed some unspecified conditions.” It’s unclear the specifics of that case, and is completely unrelated to the charges she faced stemming from the Sept. 29 incident.
