Results of Vincent Jackson autopsy revealed following NFL star's death

Former Tampa Bay and San Diego wideout Vincent Jackson died of chronic alcohol abuse, according to the Hillsborough County medical examiner’s report.
The 38-year-old died in February of 2021 in a hotel room in Florida. His family had reported him missing five days prior to the discovery of his death. The medical examiner’s report also listed the former NFL player’s cause of death as “natural.”
According to Jackson’s wife, he suffered from depression, memory loss, mood swings, paranoia and social isolation. Vincent Jackson also drank alcohol to “calm down,” according to his wife.
A study of Jackson’s brain, conducted post mortem, revealed that he had Stage 2 CTE. The autopsy report also revealed that Jackson had alcoholic cardiomyopathy, hepatic steatosis and fibrosis, esophageal varices, ascites, jaundice, remote pancreatitis, renal failure, and hyponatremia dehydration, cardiovascular disease, and intoxication by ethyl alcohol — all consistent with chronic alcohol use. The medical examiner reported a blood alcohol content of 0.28% at the time of his death.
Vincent Jackson played 12 seasons in the NFL with the Buccaneers and the former San Diego Chargers. He racked up 9,080 receiving yards and 57 TDs in his 12 years from 2005 to 2016. Jackson went to college at Northern Colorado.

According to police in Roswell, Ga., Thomas was found dead in his home. Police said his death was the result of a medical issue, and they do not have any reason to believe there were other causes at this time.
One of Thomas’ first cousins, LaTonya Bonseigneur, told the Associated Press that the family thinks Thomas died from a seizure.
“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year, and we believe he had a seizure when he was showering,” Bonseigneur said after authorities discovered Thomas’s death. “We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday.”
Some of Thomas’ former teammates had speculated the same thing on Thursday night.
The receiver, who played most of his career with the Denver Broncos, would have turned 34 on Christmas Day.
