Report reveals Jim Harbaugh’s potential coaching staff with Los Angeles Chargers
Since Michigan won the national championship, NFL rumors have swirled around head coach Jim Harbaugh. Now, those rumors are heating up. On Tuesday, KPRC 2 Houston’s Aaron Wilson revealed what Harbaugh’s coaching staff could look like if he becomes the Los Angeles Chargers’ next head coach.
“Per league sources, offensive coordinator could be Greg Roman, defensive coordinator Jesse Minter and special teams coordinator Jay Harbaugh, Jim’s son,” Wilson wrote on X.
According to “The Insiders” on NFL+, the Chargers are within “striking distance” of signing Harbaugh.
“My understanding is that this is an extremely strong offer that they have made to him financially,” Mike Garafolo said. “They’re now in the point where they’re going to discuss staffing when it comes to the general manager and, obviously, the coaching staff who is going to work alongside Harbaugh, as well.
“This feels like advancing to the point where if everybody’s comfortable with a lot of the principal factors at play, this team could move on Jim Harbaugh and try to get him under contract here in the near future.”
Roman was most recently the Baltimore Ravens’ offensive coordinator for four seasons. He resigned from the position in 2022. Obviously, Harbaugh has ties with Roman, as his brother John Harbaugh is the head coach of the Ravens.
Meanwhile, both Minter and Jay Harbaugh are currently on staff with Jim Harbaugh at Michigan. Minter is Harbaugh’s defensive coordinator. Minter led the Wolverines to boast the No. 1 defense in the nation this season, only allowing 247 opponent yards per game.

More on Jim Harbaugh’s interactions with the Chargers
Jim Harbaugh is expected to meet with the Chargers for a second time this week about their head coach opening. He previously interviewed with the Chargers last Monday. He is also scheduled to meet with the Atlanta Falcons for a second time this week, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.
Jim Harbaugh is one of the top candidates for the Chargers vacancy, according to Adam Schefter. He previously said this about the Chargers’ interest in the 60-year-old head coach.
“He’s met with two teams. He’s met with the Chargers and he’s met with the Falcons,” Schefter said on ESPN’s Get Up last Thursday. “Now, the Chargers are a team that, to me, has identified him and I think he’s right near, if not, at the top of their list.
“The question is whether they can get something done with Jim, who’s spoken in the past with the Vikings two years ago about going to the NFL, it didn’t happen, and with the Broncos last year, didn’t happen.”
