Report: Seth Curry agrees to one-year deal with Charlotte Hornets
Free agent guard Seth Curry has singed a one-year deal to return to the Charlotte Hornets for the 2024-25 season, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.
Curry, who is heading into his 11th season in the NBA, played eight games for the Hornets last season after being traded from the Dallas Mavericks before the trade deadline. He injured his ankle in March, which ended his season prematurely.
He played in 44 total games for both clubs last season, averaging 10.4 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game.
The Hornets are the ninth team that he’s played for during his NBA career. Going undrafted out of Duke during the 2013 NBA Draft, but was picked up by the Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers during his rookie season. He played two games for the Phoenix Suns in his second season before getting his career off the ground with the Sacramento Kings during the 2015-16 season.
Now playing for the Dallas Mavericks, Curry finished the 2016-17 season scoring in double digits for the first time in his career, averaging 12.8 points while making 42 starts across 70 games played. He moved on to play for the Portland Trail Blazers during the next season where he finished the year averaging 7.9 points — but that was the last time he averaged less than 10 points per game until the 2022-23 season.

During that span he had another one-year stint with the Mavericks, two seasons with the Philadelphia 76ers and was a member of the Brooklyn Nets by the time the streak ended.
After the 2022-23 season, he entered free agency and found himself back in Dallas for the third time in his career. There, he was traded to the Hornets where he’ll look to be an intergral role player in the Charlotte backcourt alongside star LaMelo Ball, who was also injured during the the 2023-24 season.
This past season, the Hornets finished 21-61, ultimately finishing 15 games back from the play-in tournament. Their record saw them finish in fourth place in the Southeast Division, which featured three teams that ultimately made the postseason in the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat and Atlanta Hawks (play in).
The Hornets’ final roster is already beginning to take shape after the 2024 NBA Draft additions of No. 6 overall pick Tidjane Salaun and second-rounder KJ Simpson, not to mention Miles Bridges recently signing a three-year deal to remain with the organization.
